Security Technology Professional- East Africa [STP (E.A) ®] is a certified and professional Security Technology Training Programme for individuals who aspire to be competent in centralizing security management system through enterprise integrated security architecture that ensures interoperability of various security systems for seamless communications between components for the most effective protection. Security Technology Professional-East Africa is aimed at people who wish to demonstrate practical ability to analyze the security environment, design, install, maintain, and repair integrated security systems and technologies, which includes hardware and software. Graduates of this program should be able to: demonstrate competency in understanding security technology concepts, policies and components that minimize risk and how to respond to them. Specifically, they should be able to: integrate complex, sophisticated security systems for organizations and enterprises; combine several technologies to be able to deter and detect intrusion; be able to secure property from every angle with barriers, gates, bollards, entry portals and turnstiles; design, install, test and support a state-of-the-art physical security solution; and use metadata for analysis to promote effective security decision.
This course applies a careful mixture of scientific, engineering and information assurance principles towards the delivery of Integrated Security Systems. Security Technology Professional-East Africa graduates are ardent advocates for physical security and Information Security convergence and will help organizations where they work overcome the age-old cultural rift between Physical Security and Information Technology managers and give management rare opportunity of seeing a complete picture of what is happening in the organizational converged security zone. The course is there designed with an aim of producing competent security systems and technology experts with focus on the unique needs of East African Community (EAC) countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Democratic Republic of Congo. The Security Technology Professional-East Africa builds concrete capacity of learners at three distinct and impact levels and details the knowledge and behaviours required to excel at each of them. The levels are relevant to all aspiring and practicing security systems professionals regardless of their current and future roles (as employee, a specialist, or a consultant). It is strongly advised that one begin with Foundation Level and then gradually progress to Intermediate and then Advanced Level because each level is designed to provide unique knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for successful performance in the industry.
