Security Management Professional-East Africa [SMP (E.A) ®] is a Certified Security Management Training Programme by the Kenya School of Security Management (KSSM). Security Management Professional-East Africa is aimed at persons who wish to qualify as professional security managers and with a clear demonstration of the most desirable competency in all areas of security management. Those who qualify to the highest level will get certified and such individuals will have shown verifiable ability to make better security decisions, act with confidence, perform in their security management tasks optimally and drive positive change in their organizations. Earning this qualification will convey the fact that you possess substantial, relevant experience as well as demonstrated a tested competency in security management.

In developing this course, KSSM recognized the fact that geographical and cultural factors across the globe matter, especially when it comes to course design and industry market needs. KSSM also appreciates that East Africa has its own unique security needs that require unique East African solutions. Security Management Professional-East Africa is therefore carefully mapped on the East African Qualifications Framework to meet East African unique needs. The course is therefore suitable for professional security management practitioners at all levels in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Democratic Republic of Congo. SMP (E.A) ® has been developed under the supervision of KSSM Quality Management Committee made up of security experts who have served in senior security roles in the military, police, and private security within East Africa.

The Security Management Professional-East Africa identifies three different impact levels and details the knowledge and behaviours required to excel at each of them. The levels are relevant to all security management professionals regardless of their security role (as an employee, a specialist, or a consultant). It is advisable that one begins by exploring the three impact levels in detail to be able to identify which level most closely represents one’s work. It is however strongly advised that one begins with Foundation Level and then gradually progresses to Intermediate and then to Advanced Level because each level is designed to provide unique knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
