Health & Safety Professional-East Africa [HSP (E.A) ®] is a Certified Health & Safety Training Programme by the Kenya School of Security Management (KSSM). Health & Safety ProfessionalEast Africa is a multidisciplinary field of study and practice aimed at individuals who wish to foster a healthy and safe occupational environment to protect people at work and the public at large. The philosophy of this professional course is to not only ground students in the fundamentals of Occupational Health & Safety, but also equip them with the full capacity to fulfil the specific needs of the employers, regulators, and modern society in general. Earning this qualification will convey the fact that you as a graduate of this program possess substantial knowledge, relevant experience as well as demonstrated a tested competency in Occupational Health & Safety.

In developing this course, KSSM recognized the fact that geographical and cultural factors across the globe matter, especially when it comes to course design and industry market needs. Health & Safety Professional-East Africa is therefore carefully mapped on the East African Qualifications Framework to meet East African unique needs. The course is therefore suitable for Occupational Health & Safety Practitioners at all levels in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Democratic Republic of Congo. To keep HSP (E.A) ® curriculum industry (market) driven, the course has been developed by a select team of employers, industrial experts, professionals, higher education experts and Occupational Health & Safety University Lecturers.

The Health & Safety Professional-East Africa covers all Occupational Health & Safety topics of importance. HSP (E.A) ® identifies three Occupational Health & Safety impact levels and details the knowledge and behaviours required to excel at each of them. The levels are relevant to all Occupational Health & Safety practitioners regardless of their health and safety roles (an employee, a specialist, or a consultant). It is advisable that you start by exploring the three impact levels in detail to help you identify which one most closely represents your work given your training background. It is however strongly advised that one begin at Foundation Level and then gradually progress to Intermediate and then Advanced Level because each level is designed to provide unique knowledge, skills, and attributes.
